Flashing : Firmware upgrade, Debranding, Decustomizing, Repair
Sony Ericsson T230
Flashing is a general term for changing phone's internal software. Basic firmware upgrade
can be performed at the official Sony Ericsson website but it won't let you choose another
fimrware. Total Multiserver doesn't impose those restrictions. You can choose to flash
firmware with other language or even from other phone adding more features, removing
provider's customisation or even converting your phone into another model.
To enable all the features of the upgraded firmware it is recommended to do settings reset
after performing this flashing procedure. For this go to Menu -> Settings ->
Master Reset -> Reset Settings.
- Make sure your mobile phone's battery is fully charged.
Battery discharge during unlocking/flashing process may damage the phone.
- Power off phone, remove battery and sim card, reconnect battery and connect
cable to your T230 and PC.
- Enter username and password, select phone and model (SonyEricsson T230)
from the dropdown list [16].
- Check off 'Generate ATS' option to generate log on error.
- Enter download area. The list of
available files will appear in the output window [20]. Select and download AVR
or ARM files available for your model of the phone (e.g. R4A014 on the picture).
Note, if flashing both AVR and ARM, their versions MUST match.
Explanation of language acronyms.
- Click 'Flash Menu' tab [17] and select previously downloaded firmware
and default language [18] whose versions MUST match.
Both files have to be flashed at the same time.
- Press 'Program Files to Phone Memory' [19].
- When prompted shortly press phone's "Power" button and follow the on-screen
instructions. Note, that phone has to stay off all the time.

is the area where all provider-related settings are stored so if your phone is heavily
branded and GDFS file is available in the download area
click on 'GDFS Menu' tab, and perform GDFS flashing.
