    Frequently Asked Questions: Sony Ericsson

Sony Ericsson

How do I check imei number on my Sony Ericsson phone?
Enter *#06# to retrieve phone's IMEI number. If the phone is locked use original sim or take the sim out altogether.

How do I know what locks my phone has and how is it related to unlocking?
Sony Ericsson phones can have several types of lock. The most common are Network lock, Service Provider (SP) lock, Network Subset lock, Corporate. Network lock is found on most phones, however some service providers can enable SP lock (FIDO) or intentionally hardlock it (Telcel Mexico).
Phone can be unlocked by code if it is not hardlocked and there are remaining attempts to enter the code.

To check what locks are enabled perform the following: joystick left * * joystick left
The next screen will show what locks are enabled. Closed padlock denotes enabled status of that lock.

Select a lock to check remaining attempts (displayed in parentheses), e.g. NET(0) means the phone is hardlocked and cannot be unlocked by code.

It turns out that my Sony Ericsson is hardlocked. Can it be unlocked?
Hardlocked Sony Ericsson cell phone can still be unlocked. You can use mail-in unlocking service for this.
